NC Scores 41st of 50 States (01/30/2010)
The report ranked states on 38 indicators in the areas of access, prevention/treatment quality, avoidable hospital use and costs, healthy lives, and equity. Health insurance coverage, as determined for 2008 data, for adults declined in a majority of states since the first state scorecard was released in 2007.

North Carolina is now ranked 41 now after being ranked 30 in 2007. How were rankings affected by the subsequent recession? unknown, but surely no state has improved in access to care or outcomes.
